Alexander Marshall was founded in 1987 by David Marshall who has been a Chartered Accountant since 1979 having trained and worked in Glasgow.
A few years after qualifying as a chartered accountant David worked for a number of years in industry gaining valuable experience on the other side of the fence. This experience is invaluable as it provides an understanding of the issues and concerns affecting businesses.
Over the years David has worked with clients of all sizes, ranging from the one man bands to subsidiaries of multinational companies and in most business sectors including construction, engineering, electronics, financial services, leisure, motor trades, retail and not for profit organizations and charities.
David’s objectives are to develop his staff to become exceptional in their roles and to provide excellent service to clients.
In his spare time, when he gets any, David enjoys hill walking and jogging and the occasional round of golf.
Clare has her BA in Accountancy, gained at Caledonian University in June 2007. She then joined the firm and successfully completed her ACCA qualification in May 2012 becoming a Chartered Certified Accountant.
Clare is a Senior Accountant at Alexander Marshall and her specialist areas of work include Assurance, Accountancy, Corporate Tax, and Pension Schemes. She is also a mentor for junior and trainee members of staff passing on her knowledge and experience to assist in their development and progression towards the ACCA qualification.
Her goals and objectives within the firm are to help foster and develop strong team work and service to clients and to develop her own management skills.
Outside of work Clare enjoys socialising with friends and family, reading, keeping active at fitness classes and relaxing at spa days!
Joanna forms part of our team of trainee accountants. She is highly motivated with a strong work ethic and determination to succeed.
She has studied an HND in accounts at Coatbridge College and achieved a 2:1 Honours degree in Accounting at the University of the West of Scotland. Following on from her degree, Joanna is now enjoying gaining experience in a practice and aims to achieve successful outcomes for clients and colleagues.
In her spare time Joanna enjoys spending quality family time with her husband and two sons. She also likes socialising with friends and family and loves to cook.
Karen’s role within Alexander Marshall is as the Personal Tax Administrator.
She has over 17 years’ experience working with HMRC dealing with PAYE, Self-Assessment, NIC, Tax Credits, Child Benefit and Debt Management.
With Karen’s vast knowledge and experience, her goals and objectives within Alexander Marshall include developing a more comprehensive and client focused personal tax compliance and planning service.
Outside of work Karen enjoys spending quality time with her husband and her 2 children. She also likes reading and socialising with her friends, and keeps active by cycling and gardening.
Lorraine’s role with Alexander Marshall is the provision of Bookkeeping and VAT services to clients. She has had considerable training and experience in the use of SAGE which is particularly helpful to many clients.
She has worked in an office environment for over 18 years and in practice for the last 4 where she has gained a vast experience in dealing with a variety of clients bookkeeping requirements.
Her specialist areas of work are Bookkeeping and Vat returns and her objectives are to provide accurate and efficient bookkeeping services and to promote accurate record keeping with clients.
In her spare time Lorraine enjoys reading and going for walks.
Linda is our Payroll Administrator at Alexander Marshall. She brings a wealth of knowledge to this department with over 30 years payroll experience.
Her main objectives are to keep up to date with changes in payroll and to provide an accurate and efficient service to clients.
In her spare time Linda enjoys reading, holidays, good food and socialising. She also enjoys spending time with her sons and her husband.
Charmaine joined Alexander Marshall in 2011 as Marketing and Communications Coordinator.
She is fully qualified in Marketing with over 15 years’ experience and is responsible for the full marketing function at Alexander Marshall.
Charmaine’s goals and objectives for the Marketing Department include building an effective marketing communication strategy, helping customers drive growth and change by finding new ways to engage with customers, creating new and inspiring service offerings and keeping the firm current in an ever changing market place.
Outside of work, Charmaine enjoys keeping active and fit. She also loves travelling and discovering different cultures when the opportunity allows.
Lynne Wedgeworth is the Principal’s Secretary and Office Administrator at Alexander Marshall.
Lynne originally joined Alexander Marshall in 2009 as an Administration Assistant, and after a few years working for Glasgow City Council, she returned to her current role in 2017.
Lynne has worked in Administration for 12 years and has gained a lot of knowledge and experience over the years.
Going forward Lynne sees her role in the Firm as continuing to support David and the other members of staff. Her goals and objectives include her continued growth and development in acquiring new knowledge and skills to assist clients and colleagues further.
Outside of work, Lynne enjoys spending her free time taking part in Musical Theatre, being a Mum and spending time with her family and friends.
